Not having read the book, this movie ended up to be even worse than I expected - what was worse was that a lot of the problems were also in the book, apparently. The plot was a tad obvious and at times ridiculous, the LHC really gets a bum rap here and the character "reveals" were a tad too obvious. It's more like watching National Treasure or something - that kind of simple-minded film to enjoy. Don't expect anything mind-blowing. Heck, the first movie was actually better. |

This movie was simply AMAZING. As a fan of the series, I was really happy since the film was clearly a homage to the core series behind it. It was done tastefully and definitely not over the top. At the same time, it's accessible to new audiences and it effectively sets the stage for more movies or even a new TV series based around J.J. Abrams' reinterpretation of the Star Trek universe. I now have new found respect for the man and this might actually make me want to watch Lost. This is an amazing movie that meant for the die-hard fans and those who have never watched a Star Trek movie before. While it helps if you know something about Star Trek, it's definitely not a requirement. If this is your first time ever to try venturing into science fiction, then this is a great choice to ease you into things. You MUST go watch this movie! You are missing out on a major part of your life if you do! |
