A 28 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. As good as this saga will get from this point. It will just become the biggest money making overrated film franchise of all time. And really that doesnt seem like much to be proud of
George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey Ewan McGregor and Goat.
Bob Wilton is a down on his luck journalist living and working out of Ann Arbor Michigan. His wife has left him, and he wants to prove to her that they should be together. So what does Bob do, he becomes a war reporter. Yet still he doesnt seem to find the big break that he needs, until one night he meets Lyn Cassidy a former army officer Cassidy is revealed to have been a part of a secret operations division of the army. They were a special group of super soldiers said to have psychic powers. They call themselves The New Earth Army and the soldiers are known as "Jedi Warriors" After Bob and Lyn find themselves kidnapped Bob has no other choice but to rely on Lyn Cassidy;s so called super powers.
Lead by Ewan McGregor and George Clooney this film is brilliant from start to finish. The humour is dry humour and you need to catch it. Most of the humour is a play on word type situation. All though the biggest joke of all is Bob Wilton not knowing what a Jedi Warrior is. Many people may end up overlooking this joke, but it is funny because Ewan McGregor played the most famous Jedi of all time in the three newest Star Wars Films. All though this may not be the funniest joke in the film it may be the easiest to pick up on if you are a fan of films. Im not recommending this film based on a liking of Star Wars. Just pointing that out, this film is nothing like Star Wars, and to me is a lot better then the final Star Wars film. As far as the deliverance of performances, the back handed with, the cultural references and just the humour it presented. Clooney and McGregor are oddly flawless and Ewan has really managed to reah new heights in his career. Star Wars Episode 1 was what made him a household name, there is not disputing that. Episodes 2 and 3 just reinforced the fact that Ewan was here to stay. To me it has been his post Star Wars choices that have really given Ewan the potential to shine. Deception with Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams was a good choice, Angels and Demons is what I will consider the best performance of his career to this point, until this film that is. Ewan was brilliant, playing a simple man with a passion for a story, so much so that he was willing to believe in what many people would consider to be impossible.
As much as I just rambled about Ewan McGregor I just cant end this review without giving shoutouts Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. Without these two performances there would be no Men who Stare at Goats. Bridges who played Bill Django a free spirited hippy looking to make a difference gave one of the best performances I have ever seen. Spacey whos best performance will forever be John Doe in Seven played the evil mastermind, and it was good to see him do a comedy.
This film was as much a surprise as Burn After Reading from the Coens. Yes it was expected to be funny, but no one expected to see two comedies that played on cultural issues. Yes there is not so surprising surpise twist near the end, but you just cant help but laugh your ass off it at anyway. All in all one of the best films of 09, perhaps a nom for best picture is in the works?
This movie was the best movie of 2006, it was a story that has happened and was a movie that showed the true effects of the diamond industry and what they do to get the diamonds oveer to a place that will sell them
Leonardo Dicaprio has really become an awesome actor and he is really someone to watch out for in the next few years, their was been early rumors about leo winning best actor and after watching this movie i feel that he definitley should and that it would be ashame if he didnt
Djimon Hounsou played such a wonderfull part in this movie, his character of solomon vandy shouldnt have been mixed up in this but he wanted his Family back and he wanted his life back. The army took his son and he went on this journey to get him back
Jennifer Connelly definitley fit in this movie, sometimes they dont make a space for a third person but in this movie they sure did.
this movie was totally graphic and you could se that in the way they showed the scences of the miliray making kids do their work. and the scenes which showed all those people getting shot were really shocking to watch because you never think of thjese thongs happening
This movie was an all around good film that i believe everyone should watch sometime ib their life
The Dark Knight begins with Batman working with Jim Gordon(Oldman) who is the cop willing to do what it takes to end crime in Gotham City. With the help of Harvey Dent( Eckhart) and Rachel Dawes (Gyllenhaal) they have to unite and figure out what is right to stop the new criminal of Gotham City simply known as the Joker(Ledger). The joker is phycopathic and plays on the emotions and it doesnt it for kicks, not really having a motive.
The Late Heath Ledger is flawless. Everything and anything good that has been said about his portrayal is accurate. Heath delivers his lines, and it goves you chills when he says what he says. Heath's portrayal of the Joker is far more sinical then anyother villian I have seen to date. He is willing to do anything, just to prove his point, just to get the thrill of explosions and killing. Heath Ledger will always be remembered. Heath deserves the posthumous oscar award. He deserves any and all praise willing to be given. Flawless portrayal. It left me speachless for a good half an hour after I watched it.
Gary Oldman and Christian Bale do such a wonderful job playing Batman and Gordon. Batman is different this time around.Gordon is willing to take down thw criminals but Batman isnt so sure that they can take down the Joker.
The Special affects are rocking. The Story is perfect, The acting is flawless. This is the best comic book adaption I have ever scene.
Chris and Jonathon Nolan wrote a script that will never be forgotten. This film is stand alone when you think of comic book adaptions. This is the Batman we were all waiting to see. This is the Joker that we have come to wish for. This is the movie that will end up being the best of 08. This movie will go down in history. Its more then just Batman, its the Joker, its acting at its finest, its A struggle of knowing what is right and what is wrong. Its characters developed to the point where it almost seems real.
R.I.P Heath Ledger 1979-2008.
