The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

This was a lot of fun. While it doesn't quite measure up to something like "Anchorman" - which it was obviously modeled after and borrows a number of actors from - I was laughing less than 5 minutes into the movie and there are a number of quips worth borrowing. It tries to do too much / actually be meaningful, which in most cases takes time and energy away from any real entertainment, especially in an already short movie (about 82 minutes of real runtime). Definitely worth seeing - I'm thinking about paying Redbox another dollar so I can see it again :-)
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
PG-13
As a childhood fan of the comic book, the action figures, and the cartoon, I was very excited for this movie. I could tell from the trailers and early reviews that this was going to be an updated version (something I had an inkling of from wandering down the toy aisle occasionally). I think they went too far in their efforts to make it politically correct and modernized, and the team certainly felt incomplete. That said, the story was interesting (wish I saw it on the big screen - good action!) and it was neat to see how the different factions were developing. Also, it could have used a little more "sex appeal" - the two leading ladies are fun to watch, but for some reason I felt they needed to round it out with a third or give the other two a little more screen time. If they had done that and rounded out the team, this would have been a solid win - worth seeing either way.
