This is to fans of "D&D" and other tales of myth & magic like "Star Wars" is to fans of sci-fi and outer space adventures.

I was never really into this kind of thing as a youngster but I thought it was quite good. I might watch the other ones one day!

Am I the only person in the world who doesn't like LOTR?? could be. This first film was ok, the look is good but just not dark or scary enough. The cast is good, especially he Hobbits, and they work very well with their characters. The effects for me are just too cgi and plastic ...( read more)looking. Expected a more darker approach.

"Nine companions. So be it. You shall be the fellowship of the ring.
    - Great! Where are we going?"

"The Fellowship of the Ring"... Where to start? Back in 2001, I was 23 years old. Now seven years later, I'm thirtysomething and can say that I'm still in love with the movie (and ...( read more)the entire trilogy). Once a year we have a LOTR marathon where we eat good food and just enjoy the magic!

Peter Jackson's opus has it all. For starters, it had Jackson's love for the Tolkien books. He made a beautiful adaptation of the legendary adventures and gave us something that will be remembered as the best trilogy in the history of cinema. He actually had to fight to get it to the big screens. Some studios dared not to take the risk, but thanks to New Line Cinema, the movie goers have experienced true movie magic.

The actors were cast perfectly. We have Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, Ian McKellen as Gandalf and many more memorable characters and talented actors. May the actor be less known or award-winning, all of them do astonishing performances to give life to their characters.

The story grabs you from the start. Jackson has paced the movie perfectly, giving a lot of time for character development. The story itself need not to be explained but all of the elements for a great experience are here. Excitement, laughter, sorrow.

The way the filmmakers have made the world of Middle Earth is something truly astounding. A lot of detail can be found in almost every scene. The wonderful cinematography captures it all.

The beautiful music by Howard Shore supports the film beautifully. There aren't many soundtracks that I've bought but these are one of 'em.

"Fellowship of the Ring" started it all. Never a dull moment, just pure entertainment. The only thing that was hard to take was the long wait for the sequel. After one year, the story continued with "The Two Towers"...

This was an amazing look at a fantastical world. Peter Jackson's adaptation made the story more compelling and emotional. The acting is amazing and the characters act the way you would want to see them interpreted. The pacing of the movie was extremely well done, not once did I f...( read more)eel a 3hr film. The action sequences were large, but done appropriately and not taken overboard. It's a great piece of flawless film-making.

It would be an insult to say the picture merely lives up to its hype; it crashes the meaning of hype, exposing it as the graven image it is. full review

Amazing! Peter Jackson did a tremendous job at adapting the greatest book series of all time into the greatest film series of all time. Blows Harry Potter out of the water in so many ways. I hope he will direct the Hobbit, couldn't imagine anyone else.
