Rough animation makes this one pretty hard to watch.
The OVA Alpha Generations serves as a prequel to the popular Street Fighter continuity that includes two movies, a TV series, and another OVA. (There's also a live-action Street Fight...( read more

Ryu returns to the mountains where he lived as a child to visit the grave of his original martial arts master: Gouken was killed by Gouki, a renegade student who embraced the "dark Hadou." Much of the back story is related by an old monk who helps Ryu in his training and explains the ancient origins of the evil Hadou that turned Gouki into a demon. The monk's wisdom and the gentle presence of his granddaughter prepare Ryu for his inevitable battle with Gouki. The minimal plot unfolds in disjointed fragments, but fans of the Street Fighter series aren't looking for compelling narratives: As four members of Japanese cast say in the special feature, "watch the fighting scenes." Too short but the fights were very nice and Akuma's origin was interesting.

September 22, 2009Ok, so I've been playing SF for 20 years, I've watched the original Street Fighter series, SF II the animated movie, Alpha, Generations, as well as read a number of manga and comics based on Street Fighter, but I'm still a little lost of some of the finer plot details.
Especially Generations. I've watched it a couple times with some die-hard Street Fighter fans and players, and we all keep coming to the same conclusion. Something that this movie seems to imply, but does not flat out say. Something we've all just kind of assumed, but never took for canon. And that is that Akuma must be Ryu's father. -
January 26, 2007this movie was very cool and akuma/ gouki is my favorite villan character in the movie and also in the game 3 words shun goku satsu and a hadouken but the movie was very short :-( i wish they made a long version and ryu looks like akuma a lil bit if that was his real biological dad.
