To be fair, Springer doesn't have much to do except play the often-befuddled moderator. The only time he breaks loose is to defend his guests' right to air their dirty laundry on national television. But most of the juicy lines and situations are assigned to the competent cast of trailer-park denizens who pop in and out of each other's beds and then go on TV to tell everyone about it. There's a hair-pulling scene about every 10 minutes or so. But unlike the nationally televised syndicated program, there is also a great deal of real nudity and unbleeped profanity. There aren't many surprises here, but the actors are amiable and attractive and don't play down to their characters. For all its raunchiness, Ringmaster doesn't have a mean bone in its body. The DVD is formatted in widescreen. Additional features include the film's trailer, a music video, production information, and a commentary from the director, Neil Abramson. --Richard Natale

    Aewsome. Great. Entertaining. These are not words I would use to describe this movie. The point of having a pretend movie about a real daytime show sans the spontaneity, I don't know.

    "Ringmaster" pretty much shows what it's like to be a guest on a talk show. The show in this movie is about stepfathers who have been sleeping with their stepdaughters. There's a lot of conflict between the guests on the show and a group of blacks that are staying in a room nearb...( read more)y. Of course a fight breaks out on stage along with a lot of arguing.
    "Ringmaster" also features some other things that go on behind the scenes of "The Jerry Springer Show" such as the women all wanting Springer's autograph and to talk to him in private. "Ringmaster" isn't that bad of a movie really. It has a few funny parts to it and it'll keep you entertained throughout most of the movie. It's also true to what "The Jerry Springer Show" was really like. My only complaints were that after awhile, the arguing between the families gets old and that the movie was a little slow getting to the good parts. However, if you've ever enjoyed watching "The Jerry Springer Show," you will probably like "Ringmaster." NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2000. I was hyped to see this movie back when it was in theaters cause even though fake, I'd always liked watching Jerry Springer. However, this movie sucks compared to the show...the most memorable thing about it is Jaime Pressly's body.

    yes, this movie is a HOT mess! so what?

    but it gets three stars from me because of molly hagan. she is an actress that doesn't work nearly enough. when she does, she's does lovely stuff with her characters. i went to see this movie expecting to kill some time. and there she...( read more) was, giving the character of connie some sparkle and warmth and lending a lot of class to a movie that didn't deserve it.
