There is no denying that Quentin Tarantino is creative. I will say however that he has never produced a single original idea. Reservoir Dogs is a great film, a remake/reworking of Ringo Lam's City on Fire. I would also point out that its an improvement but there is no denying tha...( read more)t Tarantino is a film fan who's films are so close to plagiarism, its a wonder how he's got away with it for so long. I guess its because he make great films!

Probably Tarantino's best film so far, its concept has been the fuel for so many films ever since it was made despite the fact Tarantino stole the plot idea from a Hong kong flick called City of Fire.
This was the first film to use the HK plot in the West and become popular, very...( read more) popular, as said, this film influenced almost every crime flick ever since. It is a very smart and slick 'crime gone wrong' flick and shows some excellent dialog and tense violence which I'm sure you all know about now.
This all works so well due to the cast involved, every member of the gang works well and is very believeable thanks to the great performances, Tarantino's actually being the worst haha
Nice imagination with names, costumes and gun play make this a good flick and worth its reputation unlike most other Tarantino films.

Mr. Blonde: If he hadn't of done what I told him not to do, he'd still be alive.

Tarantino movie are just so damn watchable. He doesn't make action movies, comedies, or dramas, he makes Tarantino movies.

They're fun, cool, smart, quotable, and very enjoyable.

Joe: All right ...( read more)ramblers, let's get rambling!

Here we have a movie about a botched bank heist. We don't see the actual heist occur, but it doesn't matter, It is about the bloody aftermath and listening to these guys talk.

Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, Eddie Bunker (a real life criminal), and Tarantino himself make up a team of professionals hired to do the job, and as we slowly see in flashbacks, the actuality of the events surrounding the heist are revealed, including the possible identity of a rat in the group.

Mr. Blonde: Boy that was really exciting. I bet you're a big Lee Marvin fan aren't ya. Yeah me too. I love that guy.

Its a shorter flick for Tarantino, but all these scenes are filled with memorable scenes, great dialog, pop culture references, tangent conversations, little semantic quips, and maintains an overall fun vibe.

Mr. Blonde: Hey Joe, you want me to shoot this guy?
Mr. White: [laughs] Shit... You shoot me in a dream, you better wake up and apologize.

The soundtrack has a very hip 70s vibe thanks to K-Billy's Super Sounds of the Seventies, the radio station in the film, headed by Steven Wright, providing plenty of tunes to do a great job of backing each scene.

The actors all do their job very well, in particular Mr. Blonde, Pink and Orange, but they're all so cool (I was always a Mr. Blue fan). Plus everything here is done with style, from the opening credits to the end shootout.

Mr. Pink: You're acting like a first year fucking thief! I'm acting like a professional!

Maybe with a little more time, a little more characterization for some of the other players in this flick and I would say its just about perfect, but this is still a very entertaining flick, with great dialog, and a little bit of gun play and torture thrown into the mix.

Marvin: I already told you I don't know anything about any fucking setup; you can torture me all you want.
Mr. Blonde: Torture you? That's a good idea. I like that.

From the opening moments of "Reservoir Dogs" you sense that you are watching a different kind of crime drama. The style and dialog of this picture bestows a level of intelligence upon it's characters that defies the reality of their chosen profession. Having said that, this movie ...( read more)is absolutely riveting in it's movements from the ordinary, to the grim, to the horrific aspects of a career criminal. Quintin Tarantino has written a tale of an almost corporate order to constructing a crime gang. The delight is in meeting these characters one by one. The particular crime is no more crucial to the film than a 7-11 stick-up. The crux of the movie is the portrayal of the rainbow of characters who find themselves involved in a life of crime. Much has been made of the violence in the movie, but it only serves to point out that all men are different......even the crooked. The director has included a number of very memorable scenes. This is not a linear film. The movie works more as a series of set pieces that weave together a story that is not as important as the individual parts that you have the pleasure of observing. This movie may take more than one viewing to truly appreciate.

You may not like the terms Tarantino sets, but you have to admit he succeeds on them. full review

The movie feels like it's going to be terrific, but Tarantino's script doesn't have much curiosity about these guys. full review
