Really weird movie. I wasn't really a fan, and the only reason I watched the whole thing was because of Vin.

Assault on Precinct 13 meets Aliens. Turned Vin Diesel into a marqee name which resulted in the overblown sequel; The Chronicles of Riddick.

This is an OK potboiler with waaay too much cred. It's the thing Corman used to churn out for a buck 98. (But he would have put David C...( read more)arradine in it instead.) Now, the fact that a B-Movie actually got released (and not a budget infusion and dumbed down for an A-list cast.) means critics can 'discover' and 'champion' it. Which lead to the aforementioned results. Everybody happy now?

Apparently not as Diesel's career has imploded and he's back to starring in a new Fast & Furious sequel to jump start it again. Let's not make the same mistake again, huh critics?

"One rule. Stay in the light"

Wow. This is the 10th anniversary of "Pitch Black", a low-budget scifi thriller. Directed by David Twohy and starring Vin Diesel, the film will guarantee one hell of a thrill ride.

As the story develops, good or bad starts to lose its meaning. At t...( read more)he start of the film, Riddick (Vin Diesel) is portrayed as the villain but as the tension develops between the main characters, everything changes. This is one of the best elements of "Pitch Black"

Mr Twohy had a "small" budget (approx 20 mil) and 60 days to shoot. Boy, did he do a good job! Ok, the CGI is a bit out dated but still the creatures are very effective. They remind me a bit of the better known aliens made by HR Ciger. But the one thing that is surely perfect in "Pitch Black" is the cinematography. The daylight scenes are very good looking with an orange tone. The visuals are harsh and it serves the film very well. I'm always looking for something new and different and when I saw this for the first time, the visuals of "Pitch Black" had me.

Now, I still consider "Pitch Black" to be one of the best scifi horror movies. It's full of suspense and character twists that will surely give you an element of surprise. Vin Diesel is perfect for the role of Richard B. Riddick. Still, his most memorable character...

Pretty good scary science fiction. You can just tell at the beginning of the movie that not everyone was going to make it off the planet. The people that survive the crash don't know each other, and they learn lots about each other.

    I really enjoyed this movie.

I was skeptical to watch it at first because it stars Vin Diesel as the main role and he still hadn't impressed me much. Also because it was on SciFi, and movies on SciFi are usually extremely corny. But a friend recommended it, so I watched it. It turned out to be an amazing movie with my original doubts completely gone.

The only thing I can truly say I didn't like was the fact that even though Riddick tells them not to do something, they do it, and the raptors get them. I know, you can't trust him, blah blah blah, but honestly.

Now I'm just hoping the prequel is as good.

this is a movie you know you ought to hate, but you don't for some reason. i think that reason is the first twenty minutes. they actualy made you care a bit about the characters, and the photographywas, while a bit over the top, rather well done.
