This film may be geared towards pre-teen girls but it's a lot of fun. Mainly because Emma Roberts is just so damn adorable. She's the cutest thing ever. She has a fairly good supporting cast, especially Danielle Monet who is just as great as Emma Roberts. Flitter is annoying as h...( read more)ell as he always is. He's a little fat kid and looks like a walking testicle. This kid is like a young Danny DeVito, but not cool. Thieriot is just plain boring, all the time, every line he delivers is bland and I doubt he even wants to be in this film. The adults such as Bostwick and Donovan are just right, they know they are in a film not aimed at them and they play their roles respectably. The investigation is fairly interesting, and it is nice to see some actual police work when so many other kids detective films rely on blind luck. A film that's Oh so cute and cuddly.

A childish movie. Has all the normal Nancy Drew clichés, but does not transfer well to the 21st century.

Nancy Drew (Emma Roberts) is teen dectective from the small town of River Heights, he father (Tate Donovan) has a job in California, and Nancy goes with him. After promising her father that she would no longer sleuth, and would just be a normal teenager. While living in the house...( read more) of a famous actress she is drawn into the mystery of her disappearances. With alittle help from her new friend Corky (Josh Fitter) and old friend Ned (Max Thieriot), she is able to solve the case, and help out a family in need. There are some great cameos by Eddie Jemison, Chris Kattan and Bruce Willis, and Adma Goldberg. Emma Roberts is fun, cute polite, and refreshing as the title character. She is good leading lady. I really enjoyed this movie, a good movie for young teens to watch.

Ugh that little girl scared me...she was a little to uber "perfect". lol The movie itself was really cute though, the story was cute but I had to keep reminding myself that this was a childrens movie...my Daughters liked it and they read all her books...so I guess it was a success.

Un vraiment bon film, aussi surprenant que ça peut paraître! Elle est énervante, mais tellement attachante! Par contre, je ne crois pas que j'aurais suivi la tendance de m'habiller comme elle!

I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I was going to. It actually had a lot of action and very cute. I recommend it to anyone.

David Edelstein, New York Magazine

It's one of the few tween movies that isn't in your face; its limpness becomes appealing. full review

June 19, 2007
Anthony Lane, The New Yorker

I doubt if any female over the age of twelve would get much pleasure from the film. full review

June 18, 2007
Moira MacDonald, Seattle Times

This Nancy is a throwback, but a charming one, and Roberts (Julia Roberts' niece) plays her with an irresistible sweetness. full review

June 15, 2007
A.O. Scott, The New York Times

Has all the suspense and intrigue of a less-than-groovy episode of Scooby-Doo.

June 15, 2007
Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com

In many ways, it's steadfastly adult, a picture that admits, with every frame, a desire to hang on to everything we value about traditional modes of movie storytelling, instead of just trying to figur... full review

Amy Biancolli, Houston Chronicle

Fleming's movie doesn't fuss much with originality or storytelling logic but it does play nice from beginning to end, its positive messages bundled up with self-aware humor and empowered feminine pep. full review

June 15, 2007
Liam Lacey, Globe and Mail

An awkward mixture of send-up and formula kid's comedy that's only marginally better than the Olsen twins direct-to-video detective series. full review

June 15, 2007
Ty Burr, Boston Globe

Roberts is pleasant enough but, like her fellow TV-bred teen stars, there's not a lot of there yet, let alone enough to suggest a corn-fed Sherlock Holmes. full review

My family loved this movie. My daughter and her firneds love the books and computer games. They loved the movie. I cant wait for it to come out on DVD in November...Great stocking stuffer!

I was hoping they would make sequels but someone said the movie wasn't a big enough success? Is that true? If so, thats a shame. So much better than taking the girls to see that Olson Twin and Hilary Duff crap!

I loved the movie so much that I had to buy some more Nancy Drew books, and watch the movie twice at the movie theater. Too bad nobody in this area wanted to see it.
