The criminal career of Dawn Davenport is documented in an attempt to prove the thesis "crime equals beauty," in typically gross Waters fashion featuring psuedo-rape, tacky wallpaper, child abuse, absurd makeup, a woman imprisoned in a bird cage, beehive hairdos, mainlining eyelin...( read more)

God bless John Waters. He's made some of the best, crudest feel-good movies, and this is one of his crowning achievements. It's amazing how his film, ugly-looking and full of lipstick-smeared freaks, can feel positive and upbeat; while he's mocking everything in sight, he doesn't...( read more)

For roughly half of its running time this plods along aimlessly but very entertainingly. However, when it finds focus and becomes a poorly developed satire on the celebrity of criminals, the gags dry up and boredom sets in. The problem is, because Dawn Davenport's so-called crimi...( read more)

Demented fun movie which follows a bad girl named Dawn Davenport (Divine) and her criminal career. Her naughty daughter Taffy (Mike Stole), had me rolling on the floor. I loved it when Aunt Ida (Edith Massey) refuses to believe her son is straight and keeps trying to fix him up w...( read more)

One of the better films in the John Waters - Divine schlock series. Not a traditional film, it is a product of the 1970s and was meant to shock and horrify audiences with its vulgarity. Many modern audiences have seen more shocking and more vulgar things, so this film to new view...( read more)

John Waters works with much heavier subject matter(prostitution, murder, the death penalty), and as a result it's not as funny as PINK FLAMINGOS. It is surprisingly well-made though.

This is John Waters at his tasteless best! Divine plays Dawn Davenport. Teenage deliquent who runs away from home and turns to a life of crime, after not receiving a pair of shoes with ChaCha heels on Christmas day.
This film is sooo wrong on many levels. I love it!! -

The funniest movie I have ever seen in my life. No argument. Finished. Best movie ever made.
