Aaron Yoo, Carrie-Anne Moss, David Morse

After his father’s accidental death, Kale (Shia LaBeouf) remains withdrawn and troubled. When he lashes out at a well-intentioned but insensitive teacher, he finds himself under a court-ordered house ...( read more  read more... )arrest. His mother continues to cope, working extra shifts to support herself and her son, as she tries in vain to understand the changes in his personality. The walls of his house begin to close in on Kale as he takes chances to extend the boundaries both physical and emotional – of his confinement. His interests turn outside the windows of his suburban home toward those of his neighbors, including a mutual attraction to the new girl next door (Sarah Roemer). Together, they begin to suspect that another neighbor is a serial killer. Are their suspicions merely the product of Kale's cabin fever and vivid imagination? Or have they unwittingly stumbled across a crime that could cost them their lives?

This was very well made, I remember Shia in Holes (hehe), he sure is growing up to be a serious actor, good for him...and yes we all have that one neighbor that scares the crap outta of us...lol. Hadn't actually seen this in a while and i still think this was great. Excellent thr...( read more)iller and pretty creepy. The cast is amazing and I can only recommend this. nice little remake of a classic. Still one of my fav movies to watch over and over.

I enjoyed it! It takes its time creating the tension and does it without having to rely on gore. A thriller you don't see made often anymore.

Pretty good update on the classic Hitchcock thriller "Rear Window" starring James Stewart, which is an absolute must-watch if you like classics.

this is awesome..it's funny, thrilling and the soundtrack is great, the movie sure have some corny scenes but you can see past that, this is a movie you can watch over and over again..it's like a mix of the great movies Brainscan and The Burbs..2 thumbs up!

Despite being a remake of Rear Window, this flick moves and is all sorts of fun. I feel alot of that has to do with the cast, and that Caruso doesn't allow things to slow down. Shia plays a teenage boy as a real teenage boy (with a few things granted for the sake of being a movie...( read more)), and his supporting cast all seem real enough. The use of techonlogy throughout keeps one engaged and despite a predictable ending, the thrills are there and that last bit starts off with a bang (almost literally).

Nigel Andrews, The Financial Times

Take along a good book - possibly Ted Lewis's The Serpent - and read it by the light of the effulgent clichés. full review

Pete Hammond, Maxim

A blockbuster of suspense, a scorching nail-biter of a movie that will have you jumping out of your seat more than once. full review

Claudia Puig, USA Today

Offsetting the chilly voyeurism is a viable teen romance and an appealing sense of humor. Though there are occasional lapses in logic, Disturbia is consistently suspenseful and entertainingly disturbing. full review

April 13, 2007
Amy Biancolli, Houston Chronicle

Despite the foolishness, and despite the patent knockoffs of Rear Window and American Beauty, Disturbia is a likable little thriller. full review

Kurt Loder, MTV

LaBeouf, a soulful-eyed wiseguy with a complex emotional repertoire, keeps the movie interesting even after utter predictability sets in. full review

Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal

The most disturbious part of Disturbia is how engaging this teenage thriller manages to be, even though it's a shameless rip-off of Rear Window. full review

Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer

Like Rear Window before it, Disturbia is sly and suspenseful and full of mounting dread. full review

David Edelstein, New York Magazine

One way you know that D.J. Caruso is a resourceful director is that he scares you silly with a minimum of violence and a few smears of blood. full review

Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

No sense kicking this thriller for plot holes and lapses in logic when the action, suspense and flirty sex come at such a lively clip. full review

I was actually expecting this movie to be somewhat a hybrid of 'I know what you did last summer', kinda like a flick that's tipping more on the slasher/mediocre acting side. The kind of film that you just watch because you're bored and got nothing else to do. I wasn't expecting white-knuckle tension and I didn't plan on taking this movie seriously but I got more than I barqained for. The taut atmosphere got to me and I was surprised that I wasn't disappointed by this film. I was actually blown away more by Shia's performance in this movie than by his performance in Transformers.
