Fun. But trying to repeat the success of Mary Poppins just doesn't work. It's not as good.

Wasn't well recieved I believe but again this was in the video machine (the large metal box with a wire connected remote lol) so much. Its imaginative and fun and easy to loose yourself in the fantasy world. It still looks great today, I still love the end sequence where the knig...( read more)hts take on the nasty Germans, the old spookish house where Egglatine lives with Cosmic Creepers, is she a witch? and of course the animated footie match.

What does that have to do with my knob? The Portabello St. dance scene never ended, I liked the trippy traveling scenes, and the armies at the end were really creepy and cool.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks was a favourite of mine growing up so I had to watch the DVD version. The movie includes the uncut version of the film with many extended scenes and songs. There is some unusual dubbing throughout the movie which is noticeable as the voices don't match up...( read more) to the original actors. The movie itself is a classic and for the time, the seamless animation with live action is very well done as only Disney could do.

The film takes place during 1940s in the time of war in England. Ms. Price is an apprentice witch who is forced to take in three orphans. After they discover her she is a witch, she gives them the spell of Transportation in exchange for them keeping her being a witch a secret. After hearing on the news that the school she was apart of is closing and that she needs the spell of Substitutiary Locomotion, Ms. Price decides to head to London to seek out her professor, but when they arrive, he is not what he seems, which leads the group on the search for the final spell, meeting many different characters, like the King of Naboombu, along the way.

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

The Disney organization is worst when it makes "family entertainment" and best when it sticks to pure, simple, charming fantasy. full review
