    I'm not going to write about the unplausibility of the events that take place in "2012", that's a given. You should be prepared for that when you walk into a theater to watch this picture, as well for it to be incredibly cheesy and downright absurd. Although "2012" is certainly e...( read more)ntertaining, the almost 3-hour running time is difficult to bear. The presence of respectable actors (and there are plenty) could be attributed to the economic crisis.

    Still, it's a little painful to watch John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thomas McCarthy and Woody Harrelson make such fools out of themselves, especially the latter. I would say the same thing about Thandie Newton, but that bitch was dead to me the minute the pen touched the paper on her "Norbit" contract.

    Love this, I love CG and Roland's movies so I don't have to care much about something else like acting, scripts etc. so I can enjoy it every time I watch his movie.

    One more thing, in a situation like this movie, there's no need for sensitive or emotional conversations or prom...( read more)ises to make, as at the end when many other people gonna die but John's sun do some.....c'mon people gonna die here and you just come up with family's thing??!!

    This was retarded. Good actors doing bad acting with a crappy director and stupid storyline. Quit trying to make your audience cry with superficial b.s. storyline that anyone with any sense can see through. 2012 is a joke.

    The special effects were really awesome, especailly when they were driving through a collapsing city in a limo. Of course, many of the scenes were unbelievable in the fact that they survived.     Tipican hollywoodski film katastrofe pun patetike i kliseja u kojem promatramo kako se glavni junaci provlace kroz nemoguce situacije i na kraju prezivljavaju. Kao i u svakome filmu katastrofe, u pocetku vlada taji informacije, a oni koji nesto znaju, bivaju eliminirani. Za to vr...( read more)ijeme, jedan obican covjek sa svojom obitelji bjezi pred katastrofom i uspijeva u nemogucem..... Jerry has survived.... Borba za zivot im ne ovisi samo o spretnosti, vec i tudjoj savjesti. Nakon prezivljavanja urusenja zemljine kore, detonacije Yellowstonea, opasnih letova i voznje po Sjevernom polu, stizu u arku koja je sagradjena da nadvlada kataklizmu (u roku 3 g. sagradjeno je par ogromnih Noinih arki;)
    Iako traje 3 sata, film mi je brzo proletio jer su sva cula poprilicno zaokupljena i nema praznog hoda ;) Inace Cusacka i njegovu staticnu njusku bas ne preferiram, ali zato je tu neponovljivi Woody Harrelson da podigne stvar te odlican Oliver Platt u ulozi negativca.

    Ipak, u neku ruku volim ovakve filmove jer mi izvizualiziraju kraj svijeta (ovaj film kvalitetnim efektima to jako dobro postize) o kojem barem jednom u zivotu svi razmisljamo i pitamo se kako bi izgledao te koje bi posljedice sa sobom nosio. Covjek se tada (opet) zapita koliko u zivotu uistinu cijeni ono sto/koga treba cijeniti. Film jasno porucuje da zivot nije fer i da konce u rukama uglavnom drze bogatasi. Kazem uglavnom, jer, na kraju, i malom covjeku bez novaca moze se posreciti, kako to vec biva u filmovima u kojima je sretan kraj uvijek neizbjezan.

    They could of cut this movie down to about just under 2 hours. The premise was good and the storyline started out like your typical Hollywood disaster movie, but then it spun into all these loose end side stories and got off on millions of tangents and some very unrealistic parts...( read more). Then it spun into this moral values story where who should we save and who should die etc. Now on the other hand, they destroyed the hell out of the world with some awesome special effects. Cusack is always good in any role and he did well with this one. Also another one who shined was Chiwetel Ejiofor who I just saw in "Talk to me". Surprisingly my least favorite actress Amanda Peet was not annoying. The worse ones in this were Oliver Platt and a wasted Danny Glover as a sympathetic President. In all a so-so movie with some great special effects but could of done without the stupid looking submarine floating ships at the end.

    German director, Roland Emmerich has made a career out of destroying major cities. First he brought us Independence Day, then came Godzilla, later The Day After Tomorrow, and now 2012. Last year he tried a slightly different movie, 10000 BC and failed so he went back to what he d...( read more)oes best: destruction. His movies are known for the special effects and not so much for storylines or acting (and this was scientificaly proven in 10000 BC which was full of historical innacuracies and terrible acting) so we knew what to expect in 2012. His latest film is an improvement from last years fiasco and Godzilla as well, but it still fails to live up to his earlier works like Independence Day or The Patriot (of course in those two movies he counted with a talented cast and in Independece Day he could rely in the novelty of the special effects that hadnt been exploited yet).

    The main problem with 2012 is that the storyline is terrible, the characters are very poorly developed, and everything seems to rely on the special effects, however they arent stunning enough to save the movie. We have already seen most of these vissual effects in The Day After Tomorrow, I didnt feel the movie had anything new to bring to the table. I was expecting more from the vissuals and maybe even at least a decent plot and likebale characters. Everything just felt a bit exagerated, especially the car scene where the earth is cracking in front of him and he still manages to escape in his car, or the yellowstone park scene where he miraculously saves his life. The characters were so poorly developed that I really didnt care what happened to them. The movie also seemed to drag for a long period of time trying to introduce these characters who were spread out and it really didnt feel like they were connected. Perhaps, Emmerich should have focused on less characters and developing them better instead of keeping on introducing newer ones. Woody Harrelson had a supporting role and he was probably the best character in the film but he didnt have enough screen time. I didnt like Danny Glover as the president either. There are too many things that are missing in this movie and that cant be saved just by presenting cool vissual effects.

    2012 might be an improvement from 10000 BC, but it still isnt as good as Emmerichs earlier works. He seems to spend too much time focusing on the special effects that he forgets to integrate it with a decent story and likeable characters. The plot was just to unbelievable and the movie too long. I knew this movie wasnt going to have a good plot so I really went with an open mind, but I didnt feel the vissuals were good enough to save nit, I was hoping for much more. The whole Mayan end of the world theory wasnt even explored in the film either, they just mentioned it briefly but didnt explain it very well. I really had a hard time to buy a ticket to see this film as each time I went the movie was sold out. I cant understand how so many people have gone to see this poor film when there are so many other better movies out in theaters.

    Two stars just for its dazzling effects, though it does leave much desired and the lack of three additional stars due to it being an anti-rusky film for no apparent reason except they are 'big' in every possible way.
