Downfall (Der Untergang) (2004,  R)
Downfall (Der Untergang)
This film is superb, although its in German. But it makes it more realistic and you get used to subtitles.

Bruno Ganz is fantastic as Adolf Hitler and the guy who plays Goebbels is such a look alike for the real guy that its scary.

Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in)
Fantastic film, fantastic performances. A fresh approach to all the vampire movies there have been recently (I am looking at you Twilight!). All i can say is see this film because it's brilliant.

El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006,  R)
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth)
This is a brilliant film and was unlike anything i'd seen before. The cinematography is wonderful and the entire story is captivating, yet haunting. The film has been called a fairy tale for adults and that is true in some sense. The film can be quite violent and graphic in places and errily scary in others. This is a great film and deserves to be seen.

Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004,  R)
Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War
This film was great and one of the best war films i've seen. Set during the Korean War of the 1950s. It revolves around two brothers who are forced to join the South Korean army and their continuing efforts to survive. Shows how war can affect people and tear families apart. There would have been a time when i would have overlooked any film which wasn't in english or wasn't made by Hollywood. But this film, which is Korean cinemas most successful film just shows that other countries can make films just as good if not superior to Hollywood. I have read that this film has been compared to Saving Private Ryan. Although i wouldn't really compare them both, I think this film is far better. The storyline is good and the battle scenes are fantastic and seem so incredibly real and far greater than those of Saving Private Ryan. It was especially good to see a war film about something other than the Second World War. The Korean War has often been known as the Forgotten War and this film does it justice i think. A must see!
