This has to be one of the greatest musical films of all time - Jesus is absolutely scary in how real he seems and I doubt any other Jesus Christ would ever come close. This is a movie that helped define the genre and keep the musical fire alive through the years.

A true classic for musical lovers everywhere, The King and I is one of my favorites if only for the amazing production behind this movie along with the wonderful songs.

I SO LOVED THIS MOVIE! Things come full circle as the 1988 movie than inspired the 2002 Broadway musical has now returned to the silver screen in this stellar production.

While it's a shame that some of the songs were lost in this adaptation of the Broadway show, it remains to be a highly entertaining film for the whole family with very strong performances from that cast that really carry the film through.

I am such a campy gay man at heart and Fiddler on the Roof is definitely a true classic in terms of how good musicals are made into film. Tremendos production value and a solid cast made this a great adaptation of the stage original.

CLASSIC!!! This remains one of my favorite musicals of all time. While it remains to be quite the mountain of a film to get over, it's more than worth your time and effort to see it.

This was a great re-telling of the life of composer Cole Porter and the amazing songs and music he's inspired and brought to life. The format is pretty interesting in terms of the whole back and forth with the empty theater along with Jonathan Pryce and through in the bonus of the killer performances and you have a pretty great film.

While most people remember Pippin solely for the song Corner of the Sky, there's a lot more good music involved here and Bob Fosse dance sequences to boot that really make this a play worth seeing. This somewhat rare 1981 recording of an original performance is so worth buying.

I honestly liked this movie and often find myself watching it over and over again when I'm feeling down. I guess there's just something about experiencing all those musicals in such fun and entertaining bits.

While this movie won't change your life or make you think in new ways, it will make you smile and help anyone who appreciates the campiness of show tunes and musicals in general have some honest to goodness fun.

As much as the tandem of Burton, Depp and Carter seems to be getting pretty old pretty fast, this remains to be a pretty good movie on its own and well-within the original tone of the Sondheim musical upon which it was based on.

The visual style is unmistakably Burton-esque given his love for stark black and white tones, excessive eye make-up and a generally somber universe only disturbed by brief flashes of very strong colors.

Helena Bonham Carter was simply amazing in this movie and I'm surprised she didn't win the Golden Globe for her performance.

This movie is not for the faint of heart and definitely not your usual musical fare along the lines of happier movies like Hairspray. It is about a serial killer after all, so expect a lot of blood and gore in a manner only Tim Burton can deliver.

I loved this particular musical and Oliver himself was simply darling. While I'm not sure if it was truly worth the Academy award, still it's an iconic part of any film library and is worth the unique spot it holds in film history.

This is a true classic of its time and the kind of film that every generation feels obligated to have as seen in movies like Center Stage. A strong story, great music and amazing dance sequences make for a great film that helped define a generation and taught us all how to Sing the Body Electric.

I just love musicals and this was a very unique one that has eked out a unique place in history given it's part horror movie as well.

Fun and bouncy, they did a pretty good job of capturing the essence of musical brought to film. Jennifer Hudson was simply stunning - it's no wonder why she swept the awards season. She wasn't a supporting actress - she was practically the lead since you can hardly remember Beyonce after her.

A musical film with a refreshing remix of contemporary songs as musical dialog? Amazingly done, and no small feat there. And don't forget we all discover the Ewan McGregor can SING.

You could not have grown up without having seen ths movie once. If you have, then go and get a copy - you're missing half your life!

Julie Andrews at her finest. She really brings the hills alive in this movie that has become part of our cultural heritage at some level or another.

Campy beyond words, you really have to see it to believe it. Probably one of the first movies to tackle transvestites, homosexuality, cannibalism and many other strange ideas all at the same time.

Not as powerful as the original play, it's still a must-have for every fun of musical theater.

I'm just too much the happy campy not to rank this as four stars. Classic!

A strong adaptation of the original broadway masterpiece. Are musicals truly coming back as being "in"?

Theater-to-film translations are truly that - mere approximations of the original work. In this case, this was one of those Broadway shows that just didn't cross over very well and came out rather humdrum and boring.

Compound it with some weird additional songs, relatively unmemorable actors and slight reinterpretations of the original story and you get this just OK version of the original stage show.

Madonna movies aren't always that great and her batting average has been a tad off but this was a somewhat safe venture given it's a musical. Antonio was great as Che and overall the production was rather grand. This was one of those movies that helped me realize I was queer, hahaha.

I'm a sucker for musicals and this is one of the cheesiest (or perhaps greasiest?) of them all that you just have to see.

More Disney tripe for the masses. I don't even understand why this was such a hit.

At least Zac Efron is pretty.
