The Patriot (2000, R)
I'm very shocked knowing that Roland Emmerich is directed this movie... Knowing the reputation of Emmerich which is more directing for the movie with great special effects, directed this movie, just great... Maybe it's not outstanding as another Mel Gibson movie that similar to this movie, Braveheart, but it's still great... I don't know and don't really care if this movie really based on a true history of the U.S.A. but it's still great... Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Chris Cooper, and many other great cast in this movie about war... It's great and emotional, the war thing is very cruel and so tragic... I don't like the ending too much, but the whole movie itself were great, a nice movie from Emmerich! |

High Fidelity (2000, R)
Well, it's a brilliant movie from Stephen Frears... He's great for combining the aspect of drama, comedy, and romance into this extraordinary movie about the life of a man who owns a semi-falling record store in Chicago named Rob Gordon... John Cusack himself plays great as Rob, maybe one of his best performance in his movies I've already seen... It's nice to know they have Joan Cusack, Tim Robbins, even Catherine Zeta Jones here... Overall, it's a great movie.. Lots of lessons to be learned here... Even I get bored in some scenes, because John is talking too much, but overall I like this movie... |

Malena (2000, R)
I must give another thumbs up for Guiseppe Tornatore for making another great and memorable movie titled Malena... Especially he make the right cast for putting Monica Bellucci as the beautiful Malena and Guiseppe Sulfaro as Renato... An extra credit for Sulfaro for Renato that great... He looks like a boy who obsessed with Malena... Overall, it's a nice movie to be watched... But still for me, Cinema Paradiso is Tornatore's best... |

The Crimson Rivers (Les Rivières pourpres) (2001, R)
Well, I've been surprising by this French movie.. It's been a great detective movie... Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel did a pretty good job in here... And the idea of the story that making this two detective goes alone first then joined in the middle of the movie, just great.. Just like they got a different case but what happen next is the case is connected... And the murderer thing was great too, scary one I think... Good movie... |

Vertical Limit (2000, PG-13)
I didn't expect that this movie could do an adrenaline push-up for me, I thought it just a usual sports movie that telling about mount climbing... The story itself just ordinary, some people want to climb the top but they got flushed away by a snowstorm and then the rescue team comes along to save them but not all people can be saved... The view that sold in this movie was spectacular, makes you want to do a little mount climbing after watching this movie... Even that I get a little disappointed because not all of the effects are real, I captured some scenes with a snowstorm in it, just a part of the National Geographic or something like that I think... But after all, it's a pretty good movie.. Really pump your adrenaline by watching this... |

What Women Want (2001, PG-13)
A great comedy from Nancy Meyers... The story was unthinkable to make... And the thing that Mel Gibson can hear what women thoughts was a funny idea.. And Helen Hunt was perfectly fit for her role... She looks smart in that way... But the ending, it kind of disturbing me... Should make a better ending Nancy!!! |

American Psycho (2000, R)
A story about a psycho murder that didn't get pretty well I think... Actually, Christian Bale did a great job as Patrick Bateman here, he kinda scare me out with his performance in this movie... Reminds me of Anton Chigurgh from 'No Country For Old Men'... But the story, it just a little disappointing... It just feeling weird and confusing, I didn't know where the story will be going, in fact that I watched the cut version of this movie... And the ending, it just didn't clear any problems in this movie, really really weird at all... It was Bale that makes this movie interesting... He played great as a psycho murder in this psycho film... |

The Cell (2000, R)
What a surprise that this science-fiction movie made by an Asian people... Actually, it didn't impress me... The story so confusing, going to a people's minds to save another people... Yet the fantasy just make me more confused.... Jennifer Lopez herself just didn't gave a stunning performance, just more like to make herself a diva... And Vince Vaughn didn't make me impress too in his serious appearance... Just a confusing movie to watch, even that still make me want to watch it because I'm kinda curious about it... |
