Meaning, they aren't all about the prom and what to wear and who to take and what not.

The Breakfast Club (1985,  R)
The Breakfast Club
It's a well made teen drama about teenagers that get to know each other in detention. It's smarter and better acted than a lot of the teen dramas of the 80's but also the 90's and 00's as well.

It's more original than most teen dramas since it's not about the prom with all the drama being about who they're gonna take to it.

The Mighty (1998,  PG-13)
The Mighty
This is a really touching movie and everyone should see it at least once. Don't expect not to cry like a baby though.

Mean Girls (2004,  PG-13)

My Bodyguard (1980,  PG)

The Karate Kid (1984,  PG)
The Karate Kid
I keep hearing the horrible idea for a remake with Jackie Chan as Mr. Miyagi. It's just pointless to remake a movie that was already well made.

I like Chan but no way could anyone replace the late great Pat Morita. Hell, Ralph Macchio isn't even replaceable.

Brick (2006,  R)
Brick
I wanted to see Brick when I first saw the trailer but I forgot about it for some reason. I'm glad that I finally got to see it though because it's a really good movie.

It's what probably put over Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a good serious actor before The Lookout. His performance in this is very under-rated. He does a fantastic job carrying this movie and he should've been considered for a nomination. He was ignored for Brick and the Lookout though when he was great in both. I also liked Matt O'Leary (Frailty) as basically his Watson who helps him with the case.

Brick plays like a Detective story but without the Detective. Instead a teen (Joseph Gorden-Levitt) is investiagting the murder of the girl he loved (Emilie De Raven of Lost). Which eventually gets him involved with some bad people. But he doesn't care since being involved with them might lead him to her killer.

The movie is a gripping masterpiece and it's hard to keep your eyes off of it. It's even darkly funny at times when you least expect it. I didn't exepct much from the movie and I was surprisd at how much I liked it. It was certainly one of the best from that year.

Scream (1996,  R)
Scream
The opening scene alone makes the film perfect to watch on Halloween.

Scream reinvents the horror genre while making fun of it. It's the only horror movie I could ever watch over and over again. It's fresh and funny and I love the cast. The beginning alone is classic.

A lot of the cast members have their most memorable roles here. David Arquette for instance is more likeable here and less annoying than he is in movies that followed this. While I loved Neve Campbell for a long time after these movies lol.

Superbad (2007,  R)
Superbad
An extremely funny and always entertaining film about teenagers who want to get laid before they graduate from High School. It sounds like the first American Pie but it's smarter and funner. I can't wait to see it again, I loved this movie!
