Tom Cruise mini-bio: Tom Cruise (born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV) is an Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe Award-winning American actor and film producer. He has starred in a number of top-grossing movies and remains one of the most successful movie stars in Hollywood. His first leading role in a blockbuster movie was in 1983's Risky Business. Subsequent films include Top Gun (1986), Rain Man (1988), A Few Good Men (1992), and Jerry Maguire (1996). His more recent movies include Mission: Impossible III (2006), Lions for Lambs (2007),Tropic Thunder (2008) and Valkyrie which will be released December 26, 2008.
