Replace this image with an actor photoErrol Flynn mini-bio: Errol Flynn stumbled into acting when asked to play Fletcher Christian in a film called In the Wake of the Bounty (1933). Flynn's natural athletic talent and good looks attracted the attention of Warner Brothers and soon he was off to America. His luck held when he replaced Robert Donat in the title role of Captain Blood (1935). He quickly rocketed to stardom as the undisputed king of swashbuckler films. Serious roles eluded him, and as his lifestyle eroded his youthful good looks, his career declined. A few good roles did come his way late in life, and shortly before his death he made a name for himself as a serious actor.

Joan Crawford called him "The most beautiful man who ever lived", Bette Davis thought him "insufferable". Errol Leslie Thompson Flynn was a character who caused more talk in and out of Hollywood than few other have been able to do. "Flynn's" last screen appearance was in the Leonardo DiCaprio film "The Aviator" in a nightclub sequence. Here a drunk Flynn (Jude Law) esconces himself down with Howard Hughes (DiCaprio) and Katherine Hepburn and proceeds to reach over and steal an English pea from the half nutty Hughes's plate. Hughes freaks out and leaves with Hepburn while, in the background, a patron whose chair Flynn has stolen demands it back and Flynn, an ex middleweight boxer, stands up and punches the guy's lights out. This incident, according to Martin Scorcese, is true.
From "Captain Blood", "The Charge of the Light Brigade",& "The Sea Hawk", to "Dodge City" and beyond, this excellent actor was one of the screen's greatest charmers and action heroes.

Errol Flynn was an icon of his time. The rougish youth who women used to swoon over. He's both a great actor and a good man. Troubled as his life was he managed to keep it together.
